Both Paulson and Doran Quoted in National Media
What fun to see two of our associates quoted in nwi.com! This article is "Hipsters Zips - Worth Your Money?" It took a little time to figure out what that meant, not being in the "Hipsters" age range - I just passed it last year! The zip I found meant "Zip codes". I was making that one too hard to figure out.
The article is on Hipsters moving to regions of the country in great "zip" codes, and Minneapolis is one of three. The other two are Seattle and Alexandria, VA. RealtyTrac.com analyzed 83 zip codes nationwide, they narrowed the list to the top 25 "hipster" zip codes when it comes to scoring returns on your real estate investment. Their experts agreed that densely populated urban areas with high walk scores-commonly inhabited by young professionals and families -make good locations for real estate investment and as a result small business in these locations thrive, too.
My realty experts, starting with Pat Paulson, noted that "It's kind of a self-reinforcing cycle; the businesses are looking for highly populated areas where there's popluation density, and where there's disposable income," He says that in turn, neighborhoods that have a diverse collection of local restaurants, bars, stores and coffee shops are attractive to new residents and businesses.
Dave Doran (another EXIT Realty Metro Agent) noted that in Minneapolis, the trend for young people is to bike to work or a friend's house, or take the bus. Three Minneapolis zip codes that make Realty Trac's top-25 list all boast proximity to its downtown area with city conveniences within walking distance.
Doran is also a property owner in one of the Minneapolis's hottest zip codes for more than a decade and says vacancy is not even a "remote concern." Investment in popular areas holds promise for rising property value, and little worry for finding tenants to fill openings.
Needless to say, we are so proud to work with such great Minneapolis real estate agents!
